For my final project, I want to create a website for women of African and Latino descent who want to start an amazing journey, to embrace their natural hair. African and Latino women are now embracing their natural hair more than ever. Using perms and relaxers to straighten their hair is a thing of the past for African and Latino women. Kinky and curly hair is here to stay. The website will explain how you can go from having relaxed hair to having thick and define curls. The website will go over the two ways of starting the natural hair journey, which is the big chop and the transitioning phase. The website will have images of different types of hair textures. Women with hair textures 3b,3c,4a,4b,4c will be well represented on the website.

The purpose of the website is for women of African and Latino descent can have a place to go to that tells them their natural hair is beautiful, they can educate themselves on new hairstyles and hair products for natural hair. The website will also have links to tutorial videos demonstrating protective hairstyles, women can do themselves.  The website will have reviews on hair products from women of color I will interview. The will be images of natural hairstyles on the websites. The reason why I want to do this website because it will help me get the ball rolling for my natural hair documentary.

  2. I think this is a really interesting idea, because the policing of hair has been quite prevalent and natural hair has previously been considered 'unprofessional' in the corporate world. While many women are embracing their natural hair, some schools still consider it against the dress code. In some cases, even 'unnatural' hair is policed as well (https://www.nbcnews.com/news/nbcblk/louisiana-girl-sent-home-school-over-braided-hair-extensions-n902811). For this reason, I think one thing you could consider is an angle towards children, because it is important to teach young girls to love themselves. This link includes children's books about natural hair, and the whole website seems to be along the lines of what you were thinking (https://curlsunderstood.com/books-for-kids-with-natural-hair/). Good luck with your documentary!
